  1. Luisa Vargas' opinion: Well from my own view I think that critical thinking is a mix between reasoning and personal thoughts. What I mean by this is that reasoning is using reasons not necessarily ours but from general knowledge like what we had heard all our lifes. Then, personal thoughts is about how we as individuals perceive the world and the action and things we are requestd to think about.

Critical thinking is the capacity each one of us has to give reasons of what is right, wrong, better or worst. What is more is that we can apply the critical thinking to things like texts, photos, music, art, academic works, everything is criticable and the critical thinking is just one of many ways we have to express opinions to enhance something or just defend our position towards a topic. The critical thinking is a tool that help us look through others and ourselves.
At last, I think that is important to know that each one of us have their own perception and even though we would receive criticism of many kinds is up to us to accept them or not.

  3. Critical thinking is a mental process where you build your own ideas or your own arguments. But you need to take into account that all the ideas and arguments need to be rational thought, this means that you are using reason to solve problems. Also when you use critical thinking you need to suport your arguments with evidence. It is important to mention some of the benefits that critical thinking have for us, for example the improve of our attention and observation, more focused reading and the ability to identify the key points in a text.

  4. In my personal opinion, critical thinking is the ability to see a situation from different perspectives, since we arrived in this world, the human mind has been filled with doubts, questions and amazement, therefore our mind in a way, it's programmed to be critical from an early age. A critical thinker is one who tends to challenge himself and is not satisfied with the most superficial facts.

  5. From my point of view, critical and creative thinking involves a process in which we think deeply. We use our imagination, innovation and logic. This is to say, that it is a purposeful thinking, in which we develop new strategies and skills in order to see the world in different perspectives. Furthermore, critical and creative thinking is a very useful tool that we can use to create new ideas, and solve problems. This is not necessary only in academic contexts but our daily life. This is why I believe that thinking in a critical and creatively way develop our mental processes and build us to be better in any field.

  6. In my opinion, being critical means that you have to be more conscious and careful at the moment of reading or writing a piece of paper. It means, that you have to go beyond the surface, investigate the meanings and words that you do not understand, etc. It is important to highlight that you also have to be brave enough to believe that not everything you read, hear, or see is true. That is the main reason why you have to be more reflective about some topics, and keep in mind that your opinion is not the only one that counts.
On the other hand, being creative means that you have to be able to generate new ideas to support your arguments, and you also need to think outside the box. That means that you have to be open to new ideas and believe that there are not boundaries when it comes to the acquisition of knowledge. It is important to say that being creative also means that you do not have to put barriers to do and think what you want, because you need to have the opportunity to be free to generate new ideas.

  8. For me, critical thinking is the way that we use to make a comment about an especific text, news, arguments, etc..., because we have knowledge about the topic and the capacity to explain our comment and accept other comments, I mean respect the way that other people think about that topic and maybe complement our initial comment to improve that.

  9. My first notion of critical thinking is based on "the more you read and write, the more logical and understandable your opinion is". Our thoughts and judgements are more interesting for other when they show coherence and development, not only in written form but also in spoken interaction. I consider critical thinking as the main tool that helps any student, researcher, and professor to judge not only their own work, but also the work of others.

  12. Critical And Creative Thinking is a way of thinking in which some people are getting familiar with it. Unfortunately, at schools and some universities do not emphasize this issue; for that reason, many students are not capable of constructing arguments. Based on the reading, Critical And Creative Thinking encourages students to be accurate and precise when they have to deal with an issue. They should have the ability to express what they think, their perception and background knowledge they have of a situation, and let it know. Additionally, Critical And Creative Thinking is a social process due to the use of communicative skills and social skills such share with others, in the way you can receive other people's opinions so that you can recognize that are gaps to fill, and build your informed decisions.

  15. Critical thinking is a cognitive process in which it is important to analyze, evaluate and go beyond in order to problematize situations and give answers to these ones. It is also important to see things critically and respond to the different situations with arguments which must be free of bias, which means that a person should not let their feelings interfere in their arguments. It also consists on being able to recognize the real important aspects about an issue and do not get distracted by non-important ones. A critical thinker should be a person who is willing to accept others’ point of view and to find reasons for taking a side in a certain issue as well as being able to defend with real and acceptable arguments their choice. Additionally, this person is to consider other perceptions and reflect along with their own.

In spite of the fact that the different activities and the reading were aimed to give initial thoughts on what critical thinking is, my perception and prior knowledge let me know that I already knew something about this field. However, there were some new ideas to me. For example, the fact that this mental process seems to be interrupted by feelings and personal factors. Regarding this issue, I only thought of this as a process where the prior expertise and knowledge were in charge of being critical. Indeed, I started reading other articles to build up new experiences and expertise on how to be critical in a proper manner.

It is a way of thinking in which you evaluate the strength of all arguments and conclusions that are before you. When you are a critical thinker, you take different perspectives; you look the same information from different points of view, you look deeper and take all points of view into consideration, and you are able to read between lines.

  22. On one hand, to be a critical thinker involves to see any situation from different aspects, to analyze this situation. For instance, sometimes people do not take enough time to see any situation because they consider it is more important to make a swift decision instead of making a good decision, that is an action of someone who is not critical. So as to be critical, it is important to see all the possibilities, to support the main idea without forgetting the other side. On the other hand, to be a creative thinker involves the different ways or techniques that people use in order to solve a problem, sometimes people imagine the possible result, they make some premonitions and that works for them during any situation.
However, if there is any possibility in which each one could mix or manage this two different kind of thinking. Critical and creative.

  24. For me, critical thinking is a process in which a person has to identify other people's position, conclusions and arguments that support those conclusions, and from that position give their own comments. Critical thinking does not only involve negative comments as most of the people think. Being a critical thinker is to recognize strengths and weaknesses in other people's studies or whatever you are critically thinking about.

  25. Critical thinking is learning how to think critically, analytically, and evaluatively, which basically means using mental processes such as attention, categorization, selection, and judgment. This way of processing information in order to give your own opinion might be obstructed sometimes by emotional or ‘affective’ reasons, which can create barriers. In regards to critical thinking, there are many factors to take into account such as skepticism and trust, argument, knowing your own reasons, analysis of other people’s reasoning, constructing and presenting reasons, and realistic self-appraisal, among others. Therefore, all these aspects help you build up your own critical thinking in order to strengthen the way you see and analyze the world around you.

  31. Camila Medina's opinion: well, for me, critical thinking is a very complex process where your main tool is your mind, that is to say your own thoughts, perspectives, and experiences on a specific topic and based on someone's personal knowledge. This "background knowledge" which is how it is called have to be transformed into arguments so that the person can be able to persuade and convice his public; but these argumentes mus not take any sides. He has to be objective and focus on being logical so that he can argue his point of view in a convicing way.

Critical thinking invites us to think about our position about things, and to establish which arguments we have to think in that way. It is also about knowledge, but it is not the most important thing, because a good critical thinker is able to detect poor arguments, even if you do not have all the knowledge.

Also, we need to be critical in order to judge ideas or opinions that differ from what you think or believe but as a critical person,we need to have enough knowledge in certain topic or issue to give good opinions or arguments about it. We can be critical in everything we see, read or hear.we can give our opinions or thoughts about a picture, text, song, book, news, etc. On the other hand, creative thinking is the process in which people develop new ideas that are not the same as the ideas from others.
